Single ovens in Egham

A single built-in oven is the commonest job we do in Egham. One cavity, one door, and usually a grill element in the roof of the same compartment.
Price
A single oven is £77, including the racks, the runners and both faces of the glass where the door comes apart.
| Job | Price |
|---|---|
| Single oven | £77 |
| Double oven | £110 |
| Range cooker, 90cm | £114 |
| AGA, 2 oven | £143 |
| Hob | £23 |
| Extractor | £28 |
| Microwave | £22 |
How long it takes
About two hours. Longer if the base has a spill that has been baked on repeatedly, because that needs several passes rather than one.
What we check first
Whether the door is a two-pane or three-pane assembly, and whether the seal is still sound. A perished seal is worth replacing and we will say so, though we do not fit them.
Water here is hard at around 275 mg/l, so limescale sits on the hob surround, the kettle and the glass, and it has to be tackled separately from the grease when a range or oven door is stripped.
Two cavities? See double oven cleaning.
Questions we get asked
What does the £77 actually cover?
One cavity, one door, the racks, the shelf runners and the grill housing in the roof. Racks and runners soak in the tank. Both faces of the glass where the door comes apart, then the seal wiped and checked. Nothing added for travel or parking. The hob and the extractor are separate appliances at £23 and £28.
How long does a single oven take?
About two hours. A base with a spill that has been baked on again and again needs several passes rather than one, and that can push it towards three. We would rather spend the extra half hour than leave a shadow on the floor of the cavity. The price is £77 either way.
The inside of my door has gone cloudy. Can you get in there?
Often. Most doors come apart so the inner panes can be reached, and the grease that has run down between them is what makes it look cloudy. Some newer models are sealed units, and on those only the outer face can be done. We check which yours is before starting and say so, not afterwards.
Is it cheaper if the oven is not very dirty?
No, £77 either way. A lightly used oven takes less time and we simply finish sooner. If yours is genuinely close to clean, tell us on the phone and we will say whether it is worth booking at all, because a wipe round with a cloth costs you nothing and we would rather keep the goodwill.
